Do not believe those leechers at JPJ! i paid RM150 to "keep" my driving license but it ended up being "disenaraihitamkan" and i cannot renew my license.
My problem now is, i am going to buy a malaysian car next month and i don't know if i can use my singapore license to buy/drive the car...

I'm a foreigner driving in Malaysia with a Malaysian issued DL. I use this in the US to rent cars with no problem. I refuse to pay the RM150 to obtain an Int'l DL from Malaysia when other countries charge a fraction of such a cost for a multi-year permit. If Malaysia is such a low wage / low cost country, who is benefiting from this 150 charge? Taiwan charges RM10 for an Int'l DL

Hi,

Can I know whether i can convert my malaysia license to international license in Singapore? Since I need to go USA for training, I need to have an international license. Or I must convert it in Malaysia. For my information, it costs RM150per year, just for international license. Malaysia license can still remain as long as pay the fees each year.
So which 1 is the recommended way to get my international license? Cos I feel that RM 150 is quite expensive. Is Singapore license recognised by USA?

Hi Andy,
I was being told by the JPJ JB officer to carry out the same procedures to "re-activate" my M'sia driving license. Would like to know what happened for your case in the end after you get the extract letter fr LTA SG, did they really "PUNCHED" your SG driving license? If that's the case, i supposed our driving license record should still remain in LTA system, just the license maybe we reposrted as lost or damaged, can it possibly be replaced at a later stage?
I am very confuse about the rules in M'sia for this matter. Some said SG PR can drive M'sia registered car with SG license in M'sia legally, some said NO. Logically should be YES, but i think in order to avoid ther troubles fr m'sia police, i shall just "re-activate" my m'sia license as i would be relocated to work in KL and drive frequently for at least one year.
Looking forward to hear from you, i'm tired to ask around as JPJ and others are giving very different comments, and i just want to know the fact fr your real case.

JPJ JB do not operate on Sat anymore.
No matter where u do your extract the system will “deactivated” your license after it expiries, not 'blacklist'.
There is no such thing that whether you or who else get the traffic records, your license will still be deactivated, but not cancelled.
U can activiate back anytime when u decide to be back in Msia for good ;)

i am from sarawak too. my brother is holding malaysian driving license. my husband bought a car. he wants to drive in singapore. so, he jsut seat for the theory test in singapore. after pass, his license is consider international driving license. he can use the license to drive in singapore and sarawak too. no need to report anywhere !
when he is using the license to drive in sarawak, once he is being asking by the trafix police. my brother told the police, that , THIS IS INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE ! WHY CN NOT !" then he win!

hi, i think you can refer to jpj web site and download the akta 333. (from "akta an kaedah")at page 45 an 46, it show s'pore license n m'sia license same.
if any police or jpj stop you in malaysia. show it to them . i think they not sure also@@ hope can help you.
